How to Celebrate Galentine’s Day

Debuted in a 2010 episode of the show Parks and Recreation, Galentine’s Day is a blend of your gals and Valentine’s Day. It’s a special day to celebrate friendship in all its forms. Romantic love isn’t the only kind of love that deserves all the attention. Just as important as celebrating your significant other, it’s just as fun to celebrate your friends by getting all dolled up, grabbing a drink, and showering each other with gifts.

Here are a few ideas on how you and your best friends can show each other how much you appreciate one another.

Brunch, Dinner, or Drinks

Hosting a brunch or dinner for you and your friends and going out for drinks is always a fun little adventure to celebrate Galentine’s Day. Nowadays, there are many different places across the US that have fun-themed restaurants and bars that are perfect for just the pals.

If your group of friends is looking for a more private option, you can always host your own themed party. All you’ll need is to figure out:

  • Theme and Decorations: If you’re a group of independent women who don’t need a partner, you copy the scene straight out of the movie Valentine’s Day, smashing a heart piñata and popping balloons. If you want a more loving, Valentine’s-style party, go for the classic red and pink hues.
  • The Spread: Decide if you are doing a full potluck with finger foods, appetizers, desserts, or even breakfast-themed dishes. And, don’t forget the bubbles!
  • 3 girls sitting outdoors by a river

    Spa Day

What better way to celebrate each other than taking a day to relax and be pampered with massages and aromatherapy? Whether you’re offering it as a gift for your friends or you’re going together, they’ll be able to take a deep breath and detach from reality for a little bit.

Similar to brunch and dinner, you can also orchestrate your own spa day at home complete with face masks, foot masks, hand masks, hiring a massage therapist for a house call, and topping it off with a glass of wine and chocolate. That way, you all can still feel pampered while spending the day together.

    Shower with Gifts

Everyone loves a nice gift, and friends always know exactly what you’re looking for. You can mix the gift exchange in as part of your brunch and spa day, or surprise them with a cute little gift basket on their doorstep.

If you need ideas to fill the gift basket, we suggest throwing in their favorite candy, something soft like socks or a blanket scarf like The Travelista, a candle, and a beauty item like the The Lift hair tie bangle set.

    Mani-Pedis

If you’re looking for a quicker Galentine’s Day idea that still allows you to spend some much needed time with your friends to talk, mani-pedis are also another great spa-like option. This way, you can all sit together and still be able to chat about the latest hot tea (or how much you appreciate each other).

    Girls Trip

If you’re looking to spend more time together and separate yourself from the cold weather most of the US experiences in February, treat yourselves and take a girls trip to a warmer destination! Places like Sedona, Arizona and Austin have become popular hot-spots for gal pals and friends to get away together and enjoy the unique scene both of these places have to offer. Not to mention in February it averages in the 60s and 70s in both those locations. And, what better way to kickoff a girls trip with matching travel jewelry cases to travel with?
