Traveling to Europe? Well, color us jealous!
There’s only one thing that’s not super fabulous about planning a trip abroad… figuring out what to pack. Fortunately, we’ve got you covered there.
Whether you’re headed to the rainy streets of London or the sunny beaches of the Mediterranean, read on for your fashion-forward packing list for Europe.
What clothes to pack for your Europe trip
Breathable fabrics are your friends when you’re touring around Europe. Here’s what we recommend you pack in your suitcase, from top to bottom.
Tops and tees
We love cute striped tees, tank tops, and flowy blouses for those warm summer days. Headed to Europe in the fall or winter? You can still bring tees for layering, but pack sweaters, turtlenecks, and long-sleeved tops, too.
No matter the weather, every gal needs a cardigan for her Europe trip. It can get chilly and in museums and at night, even during the summer. Plus, some cathedrals require that your shoulders be covered in order to go inside.
Of course, if you’re traveling to Europe during the winter, check the weather of your destination. You’ll want to plan on bringing a sturdy coat or rain jacket to keep you dry and warm.
Bottoms
As for what bottoms to pack, you can let your personal style and the local weather help you decide. Bold-patterned slacks and mini skirts look ultra sleek in London, while floral prints and flowy skirts rule the rues of Paris.
Jeans are always in style and reliable when you’re out and about. Just make sure you have a pair that’s not ripped for visiting cathedrals. And don’t forget plush socks and thick tights for those cooler days.
Dresses, rompers, and jumpsuits, oh my!
One smart way to get the most out of your suitcase is by packing a bunch of tops and bottoms that you can easily mix and match. You can also just pack several one-piece outfits and call it a day.
If the latter’s more your style, you can’t get more chic than day dresses, rompers, and jumpsuits. These are easy to dress up or down with the right cardigan or blazer, and a few pieces of jewelry.
Shoes, but not stilettos
Don’t kid yourself: trips to Europe call for a lot of walking, so make sure you pack comfortable shoes! Sporty sneakers, chic boots, and strappy sandals are all very travel-friendly. It’s not a bad idea to take yours for a spin around your local mall to make sure they can hold up for a day of walking the Acropolis.
If you’re planning any fancy nights out at the club, a trendy pair of boots or block heels are the way to go. With all the cobblestone streets, you’ll want to leave your stilettos at home.
Travel Accessories and everything else
Finally, don’t forget to add these must-haves to your Europe packing list:
- A tote bag or crossbody purse for your daily essentials
- A water bottle to quench your thirst
- A portable phone charger so you’re always ready to snap that Instagram pic
- Face wipes or mist to keep you cool
- Hand sanitizer for those tourist booths, metro stops, and ticket turnstiles
- A straw hat to shield the sun (and some sunscreen to match)
- Travel-sized toiletries and hair styling tools (like your straightener, curler, or dryer)
- A pair of sunglasses
- Your travel jewelry organizer (bonus points if it’s big enough to hold your passport, too; ours is, by the way)
- A blanket scarf to keep you snug on the plane and stylish on the streets
